DON'T BE A DICK! Campaign: Addy Winner and to be featured in PRINT magazine

Dick is the spokesperson for the safety awareness campaign for the Cooper-Young Community Awareness Association (CYCA). While Dick may not be the smartest guy on the block, he has been awarded three Memphis Advertising Federation ADDY's and will gain national recognition in PRINT Magazine in October 2008.

PRINT magazine is dedicated to tracking new creative and technological advances in visual communications and presenting these developments to their audience of designers, art directors, illustrators, photographers, educators, students and enthusiasts of popular culture in a thoughtful, energetic, visually striking manor. Dick is an example of what not to do to keep himself and the Cooper-Young neighborhood safe including leaving valuables in his car, never paying attention to his surroundings and not reporting suspicious behavior.

The campaign – including print ads, posters, t-shirts, stickers, buttons, website and yard signs - was created by Harvest.

Maybe there is something to be said for not always being the smartest guy on the block...

BankTennessee Launches Ground-Breaking Marketing Campaign

BankTennessee is launching a cross-platform marketing campaign that is breaking new ground in the banking industry. The integrated and cohesive campaign, planned, designed and executed by Harvest will feature print advertising, web banner ads, in-branch marketing, search engine marketing through Google and Yahoo! (PPC campaigns) and email marketing. All marketing pieces are directing potential customers to “Upgrade Your Lifestyle” by visiting a central campaign website touting the company’s Home Equity Line of Credit.

The campaign breaks from convention by utilizing a campaign specific website that focuses more on providing a fun place for visitors to play than bullying visitors with a marketing message. The flash website features a brief intro section welcoming visitors into an interactive “dreamworld” environment and although HELOC marketing is obviously the driver behind the site, the utilization of an entertaining design where the visitor is in control encouraging users to let down their marketing guard and spend more time on the site. The byproduct of longer visits is extended exposure to BankTennessee and their HELOC offerings.

“Initial response has been very positive and the site has already shown to be a highly viral site,” said Andrew Holliday, Marketing Director for Harvest. “We put all emphasis for this campaign on designing a site and campaign that would grow beyond our advertising. We will provide the initial push with advertising to introduce the site to customers and then we’ll sit back and watch as the site visits multiply through a more organic growth pattern of forwards and visitor buzz.”

YES....this is a made up word. We came up with this because it is the only term that accurately describes the goal for our work. So, here is your definition:

Experiential Design - The purposeful design of how customers, clients and vendors experience your brand. Experiential design is an extension of the brand identity, advertising, web presence, retail/environmental design and all other forms of interaction potential customers, clients and vendors have with your brand.

We realized a need for this when none of the standard industry terminology explained brand experience. More importantly, this is not a standard industry practice so we needed to create a word that would help introduce the concept. Why is experiential design important?

Experiential design is the future of marketing. Everything from the music you choose for your store to the blogs you write are about managing how people experience your brand. As the internet, advertising, program content and retail experience continue to grow together it will become more and more important to build a cohesive customer experience across all channels of communication. So, sit back and look at your organization and truly examine what the customer experience is like.

Is your website a proper representation of your brand?
Is your retail location providing an enjoyable experience?
Does the music you play appeal to your target customer, or does it just appeal to you?
Does your new print advertising campaign simply sell, or does it reinforce your brand experience while selling your product?

This is the first of many posts growing on Fresh Ideas. This blog will be completely dedicated to the many ideas running through my head. Some are ridiculous, many are far-fetched, and most are unlikely to find the light of day. However, every now and then I may just be able to cultivate one into a thriving organism.

I'm fascinated by the possibility of developing a ground-breaking business or idea. I constantly churn ideas through my head in search of what could be the one to grow into a national/international leader. My expertise lie in the brand development, advertising, design and communication fields. These are a crucial tool in the development of earth shattering ideas but there is much more involved that I must seek and learn.

What does this blog have to do with my quest? I want it to be a source for idea creation, imagination, development and also some bragging by peers, colleagues and strangers about the success and earth shattering ideas they've already developed. Because to do something special we all need a little inspiration and guidance.

So.....let the ideas flow. From my head, your head or anyone else willing to share.
